The best way to do it is gradually, extreme changes in temperature are detrimental to the boiler, causes leaking flues and staybolts. Best to set...

Actually they need to sand out whenever you know it needs it! If you have a fireman that runs rich and soots up the flues the engine won't steam good, you need to sand them! If they used a lighter...

Vance gave you some good information, I will give you some more!

As the fireman the water glass is perhaps the biggest thing you need to keep an eye on! Never ever let the water go out of sight!!...

Not going to be any embers on an oil burner, what would appear to be embers is actually indeed built up carbon coming free! If you ride the Durango and Silverton narrow gauge you will experience...

Wow......that is a small water tank.......I would think a very lightweight switcher and a tank car would be better.......kinda like the old fire trains they ran on the old SP!

Guess it was hard to say which on was worst......no matter what direction it ran you had a tough hill.......goodtimes to hobo junction or batman theater to texas......they are both pretty good...

Vance has it right!......they are fire barrels......but they are a thing of the past......railroads are replacing all wooden bridges and trestles with concrete bridges.....much easier to maintain!
