Re: New for 2018!

Hey Travis! I meant to ask the other day, do they have any plans for the tower stunt show arena other than haunted houses? It sure takes up a ton of space to sit dormant most of the year!

Re: Too Confounded For Words

I didn't know about Backlot closing, bummer! That was one of my favs! They had a really neat 1.5" scale ATSF live steamer hidden in the queue line. I remember when I first rode it back in the 90's...

Re: Too Confounded For Words

I hate to say it, but now I kind of see what you guys who miss the cave must have felt like. Of course, the Maelstrom isn't anywhere near as unique as the Cave was, and I'm sure the Frozen ride will...

Re: Railroad Spiel - Calling All Conductors!

Getting close, I wanted to incorporate a bunch of the stuff Cliff does so I rewrote it one last time. Should be brining it in to ops this week to see if we can add all of the spiels to the SOP, then...

Re: Coaches Looking Spiffy

Red Train might get some paint later in the season, just depends on when we park the coaches out of the roundhouse/when the paint dept. has time.

Coaches Looking Spiffy

Caught a quick photo of the new coat of paint on the General Sam's coaches. Looking good! Now, if I can just figure out a sort of all purpose spray for the interior that magnetically repels all...

Re: Miniature SFOT Model

It's been so long since I've been back there, or ridden Rapids, I had almost forgotten about that. It's all this stuff west of adventure theatre right? I hope all that survives the new addition to...

Haha you guys should have all worked on the railroad!!! Longevity! Course I guess we can't boast, since we lost the separate conductor crew & conductor uniforms...and GTDepot. We're lucky it's...

Re: Date of Name Change for Tx Depot/Johnson Creek

Yeah, the current map (and the park website) call it Texas Depot as well. I figure it must have been relatively recent, because no one up top has changed it.

Personally, its a bit of a mouthful...

Date of Name Change for Tx Depot/Johnson Creek

Howdy!

Sorry if I've asked this before, but I couldn't find a post on here about this.

Do any of you out there have definitive memories of when the Texas Depot was renamed Johnson Creek...

Re: Book about SFOG

That's awesome, maybe just offer the color version on a special order basis, and when enough people order a color copy make a run of them. I for one am definitely biased towards having something I...

Re: Miniature SFOT Model

Bummer. It would be neat to commission several models throughout the park's history, maybe one from opening in 1961, one from 1976, so you get big bend and chute out, 1990 with the original texas...

Book about SFOG

Howdy,

Ran across this book and it looks pretty interesting! The preview had the first couple of pages with some good pics of Mr. Wynne.

It would be neat to get all of the authors who are...

Miniature SFOT Model

Howdy all,

Does anyone know what happened to the miniature model that was at the park in the 70's? Parktimes has a really nice couple of pictures and description, but I would love to know if...

Re: New for 2013: Food's Own Season Pass!

Re: What are those red barrels for ?

They are indeed for decoration, all three are empty. As far as embers go, there are certainly less when firing with diesel, but I have seen (and felt on my forearms!) many when the conditions are...

Re: I made the STeam Train crew!

Ah, those were the days! These days, the engineer also doubles as the station attendant, gate opener, coach custodian, ect. Only once have I had the pleasure of pulling into an empty station,...

Re: I made the STeam Train crew!

Run works too. I suppose if we were to stick to our T&P roots, run would be more authentic, I suspect that "operating" a train is more of a northerner term. Us Texans run a locomotive!

Re: I made the STeam Train crew!

Here is a really neat article about firing up a locomotive. The article ends before any operation (you don't drive a train, you operate it) or shutting down happens, but I've always liked this...
