It 's Scott's speelunker. He sent me pictures of it.
He tried to sell it on Ebay before as well.
He didn't start the bid so high, but he had a reserve.
You can't see the reserve amounts, but I think it was about $5,000.00.

He told me how he bought it, since he wasn't eligible to receive one when the park removed them from the ride.
If I recall, he found it in a restaurant like Spaghetti Warehouse where they used to sell the antiques that the had on display.
I could be wrong about that part.
In any case, he bought it after the park distributed them.

Wow! Where have I been? I totally missed this thread and the auction. Looks like it went for $3200!! Scott told me it was from a Friday's location where he was friends with the manager. I doubt he paid 3200.

Scott also has/had a ballerina from the Krofft puppet show. I think that was his real prized possession. Maybe we'll see that show up on ebay soon as well.

I would love to have any of the Spee-Lunkers. I have had a couple people contact claiming to have one, but when it gets right down to it and I tell them I will buy, they quit replying to my emails. I too think 1275 is a bit much for that particular Spee. I also think that Spee-Lunker is what I refer to as a "Boulder-Lunker".

Oops, I accidentally hit the "Edit" button instead of the "Quote" key, so it accidentally posted my reply to your actual post!. Moderator powers are dangerous when I'm half-asleep! My apologies.

I'm sure most owners would rather keep their 'Lunkers than sell them for a lower price. Most are in the hands of longtime employees who treasure the memories of them, or if sold, they'll be in the hands of a collector now. It's not like they can just be replaced with an all-new 2010 model. But who's really to say? Value is in the eyes of the beholder on something like that. Good luck if you ever do find a seller .

I'm hoping a few of those Spees will show up at the exhibit taking place at UTA. I know who has some but don't know how to get ahold of him just now. I was hoping one day he'd donate one to me for safe keeping. Pretty please.

I'm sure if one shows up at the exhibit, extra security will be needed.

Thanks for the warning about security!

In fact, I'm delighted to say that we will have a Spee-Lunker on display at the exhibit! It opens Feb. 7 at UT Arlington Library.
