Default Country Bear Jamboree 2012

The Country Bear Jamboree just came back from a lengthy refurb and a lot of people in the Disney community are not happy (but they're fickle people anyway and changes rarely make them happy) but this one I kinda agree with most of the complaints, but it could have been a lot worse

The old show ran about 15 mins and the new show is slightly over 10 so they're saving about 5 minutes be removing some songs and a lot of the dialogue between the scenes spoken by Henry, Buff, Melvin and Max so the show doesn't seem to flow as smoothly (and not as funny)

Overall, if you had never seen the show before these changes won't make a lot of difference to you, just to those that really like the show the way it was

I'm happy that some of the rumors about it being changed to a new show in an American Idol format with more current songs weren't true (though the heads being the judges would have been funny)...and the new fur on some of the bears looks nice, if not a little bit odd since some got new clothes, hairdos, and beards...they also cleaned up the audio quite a bit while chopping it up and seemed to adjust some of the AA's to be more fluid and less noisy

So why the change? Most say it's to have one more show per hour (4 instead of 3) to increase capacity which makes sense IF the show was actually a draw and filled up on a regular basis which it doesn't except at the busiest times of the year (most of the time it's just people seeking AC and a place to sit)and it also follows Disney's mantra that people can't be out in the park spending $ if they are standing in lines (or sitting in a show in this case)

Link below to a site that has video of the old and new on the same page if anyone is interested.

I tend to agree, especially at the WDW show which has a decent amount of comfy seating where most guests are watching a show to cool off awhile and simply relax. Once they get comfy, the show is soon over and they are being herded out the door. I think the abbreviated show would have worked better at the old Disneyland version, where they had two smaller capacity show rooms and the guests were sitting on uncomfy bench seats. Of course, that idea is moot now since the building is now used as the Winnie the Pooh ride.

Thanks for the review and the link, Vance!

(Edit: And the talking animal heads on the wall were that extra touch that really kicked the show up a notch, IMHO.)
