Default GT Car Question

When did the GT Cars replace the Happy Motoring Cars? Also, did the name change to GT cars, or did it remain The Happy Motoring Freeway?

According to Parktimes, the body replacements took place in 1973. According to Alan C. , Happy Motoring was the official name, though it was informally called the GT Cars.

Thanks guys!

In 77 we still had the sponsorship of Exxon (Happy Motoring) on our uniforms. I want to say that by 79 that was gone and the name changed to the generic "GT cars"

The 1981 map says Happy Motoring, but the 1983 map say GT Cars. Since 1983 was the year that Bally took over, I'm thinking the name change was a new-owner-in-charge decision.

So "GT" stands for "Gangster Type Car"?

Would we reveal our ages if we add that the chain's name was Enco before it was renamed Exxon?

Well, at least we aren't so old that we have completely forgotten it.

Oh no, I'm sure you're like the rest of us--the only way you know so much about the old days is through Google!
