The one major roadblock to building realistic parks was the same from the original game to RCT3. Everything was basically limited to a north/south/east/west grid, especially pathing. Even the coasters allowed you to have angled track sections, but only with limited uses, while the N,S,E,W pieces allowed all the options. I also wanted them to include a railroad crossing path section. Youu either had to go under the tracks or go over it on a bridge...or the same options on tracks. I'm sure someone created a custom "cheat" to allow that, but that would have been nice to have from the start.

Hey! At least y'all can still devote time to it! There are parks in the original RCT that I have yet to touch after 6 years of owning it.

Then the hubs went out and bought RCT2 for me one Christmas..grrrr.

Krista, just do what I did - get your daughter hooked on the game so you're just being a good parent by playing it with them.

It might also be fun to rename certain employees in the RCT park to actual current or ex employees. My focus when I made these wasn't on keeping the park clean, but on simply building the park. Certain areas are prone to vandalism and to letting puke accumulate. Maybe Merv can nominate certain people to deal with the problem for us. [/QUOTE] Nobody better than Giant12 for vandalism--he's got his name on stuff all over the park. Cloak oughta be good for puke seeing as he'll get plenty of practice cleaning it up since he'll be loading at the Surf all day now.

Thank you. I am not sure where I put the file for it or if it is still available somewhere, but here are a few pics from my recreation that I did back in 2003-2004 sometime.

That's exactly why RCT2 didn't have as many limitations as the original version. Double-wide pathing was a no-no in RCT1, especially if you wanted to actually let guests into the park. I was only able to capture the "feel" of certain eras, not ultra-detailed versions like on RCT2. Larger park sizes helped that issue as well. My rct1 version used the Alton Towers scenarion, and had to cram in Giant and Titan with other rides.

For those who are bored with mine, there is still room on the north side of I-30. Maybe build Hurricane Harbor, restaurant row, your very own Al's Hamburgers, or manage your own apartments. (if you do that last idea, make sure to hire more security! )

I have been watching this Theme Park Builder - 3d for a while.
It hasn't been released yet, but it is supposed to be an Open Software 3d Amusement park Builder.

Their description: Theme Park Builder 3D - an ambitious community project to create a free amusement park construction game. You can build a huge park and then take a first person view and "ride the rides". Key features include user created content and expandability.

If you click on the "activity" tab, you can see that someone is still working on it.
