I worked 2 different time frames at SFOT. This write up makes me feel OLD.. :-)
I worked the Big Bend for years. On our ride we had: Ewell Gibbons - just a wild hickory nut Bob Garrison - Dallas Cowboy KC and some of the Sunshine band - a little trivia... the song "Shake Your Booty" was sung for the first time ever at their concert at the Music Mill Theater. Olivia Newton John And from the not so famous category --- Did you ever watch the movie Logan's Run? At the very end of the movie there is a girl that comes up and touches the old man's beard. That girl worked at SFOT on our day crew at the Big Bend. Her name at SFOT was Debbie Cox but the movie credits show her name as Ashley Cox. She came and rode the Big Bend after the movie came out and she had been transformed with a boob job, big hair and a totally Hollywood makeover. Her makeover included her California surfer 'dude' boyfriend. My second stint with SFOT was in the late 80's. In the park was: Tone Loc and a few of his band --- he may have been some super pop star but they were ride weenies...... weenies...... Debbie Gibson Tiffany - I was working Shock Wave that day. Tiffany and her entourage and SFOT escort arrived and insisted that she wanted to ride in a ride all by herself. So we cleared a train and put her in the front. Righter after dispatch she started screaming her head off and her security guards rushed the console and demanded we let her off. The train was about to nose up the lift and the operator hit the panic stop to get her off. We had to wait on a supervisor + a mechanic with an override key to restart. I am sure I am missing a few more but that is all I recall for now. |

Let's see...
I was at this park from October 1988 to March 2001. Have seen a lot... Scott Bakula and his daughter (filming Neccessary Roughness, I guess) Devon White (Toronto Blue Jays) Worked the All Star Party, so saw all of the players. Randy Johnson, Dennis Martinez, Mike Piazza, Bobby Bonilla, etc. Most are spares now or retired. Saw Peter Gammons and rest of ESPN crew. They did Sportscenter right in the middle of Goodtimes Square. Shook the hand of the current Governor then and future President George W. Bush. He was surrounded by people but I was able to shake his hand. Julio Franco, tried to get him to play speed pitch but he didn't want to hurt his arm Mike Greenwell of the Boston Red Sox at the time Tone Loc enjoying a footlong hot dog in Boomtown Tone, Tony, Toni (or however they spelled it) after closing playing a few games. Met Nolan Ryan and Roger Staubach at a function that Six Flags did for the Special Olympics. Got a signed ball from Nolan that they gave us for being at the private party to meet both Nolan and Roger. I asked Nolan how is shoulder felt (this was just after an injury to it) and he said "Between you and me I couldn't throw a ball from here to that wall". We were about 4 feet from the wall, I laughed! ![]() Met Spud Webb, Troy Aikman, Steve Walsh and other famous athletes at the bigger event we did for the Special Olympics in Reunion arena. I also was "Raphael" the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle at this event and signed autographs for kids. I was picked during the event by my then Games Supervisor to take over for the person who was playing the TMNT because they had to leave. It was fun but the mask kept poking me in the eye the entire time. I am sure there are more, I met at SFOT and SFA. |

I remember we saw David Bowie and his son...we had heard about it at the front gate then actually saw them leave...i was surprised at no security (from what we knew) and that no one seemed to recognize him with hat and shades. But in the 80's that was a pretty cool person to see!

I saw David Murphy and his wife eating at Johnny Rockets while I was working there. As soon as I saw him I got a receipt paper and asked for his autograph. I also heard a guy from the Duck Dynasty Show was there but never saw him

I know so many people around here with those long beards. In matter of fact I have absolutely no idea what my brother-in-law's chin actually looks like. He could shave all the hair off his face and I would never recognize him.
I remember screaming something like Tiffany did on the shock wave lift but nobody ever listened to me, they only smiled when my screams turned to horror and then joy.

So I dug this up after a few years of not visiting the site. I was Daffy Duck in the Summer of '92 and I took a pic as Daffy with Larry King once.
