Default Local Disney park scam

Disney park rumors are fairly common in any area where someone buys up a large amount of land, but rarely does it involve a financial scam. A fake Disney park supposedly being built near Celina was all a scam to separate investors from the cash. This also involved an ex-NBA star in the investigation.

From today's news. The dude has been found guilty. Apparently the court suspected he would try to flee the country:

"Thomas W. Lucas Jr. was found guilty on all counts Friday for bilking investors after selling them a fairy tale about a Disney park in North Texas.
The jury deliberated for less than hour, and the judge had Lucas taken into custody without bond immediately after the juryís verdict.

Prosecutors presented evidence that someone booked an airline ticket to Amsterdam leaving Saturday morning using Lucasís fatherís credit
card. The ticket was in the name of Thomas Lucas, but his father said he knew nothing about it.

Defense attorneys are still talking to prosecutors and an FBI agent about the ticket."

And Disney even testified --- as well as stating their view that a Disney theme park wouldn't be feasible in N. Texas (Although I seriously doubt that will ever stop the rumors...).

Disney executive: North Texas theme park would not make sense
