Does anyone know when the original entry plaza was built?

I say this with the risk of sounding a little sarcastic, but I would assume sometime in the few months prior to August 5, 1961.

The main entry plaza has always been in the same location, if that's what you mean. By 'entry,' do you mean the area inside the park (Star Mall,) or the ticket-booth area, outside the gates? The entire park, the whole smack, including the parking lots, was constructed over the span of about a year, 1960-61, just prior to its opening. That's a strange question, coming from you, Clint, with your extensive knowledge of Six Flags.

I was referring to the covered walkway near the front of the entrance, where they had that large fountain, along with terraces, plants, and flowers. Below is the remodeled version of the entry plaza.
Regardless, I found the answer by studying the maps. It was built in 1969. |
