Default The End Of Downtown Disney

WDW has announced that it's getting rid of Downtown Disney.

I have no problem with this. I couldn't stand that we went to the parks and then at some point continued with Downtown Disney, which is nothing more than a huge outdoor souvenir gift mall to me. ..and the ice cream was way too expensive.
good riddance.

um...I'm assuming you didn't read the press release...Downtown Disney isn't going away, it's being renamed Disney Springs and they are adding more shops, more bars/restaurants, and more expensive ice cream...it's basically more of the same, now with shade and parking garages...of course this is the 3rd or 4th attempt to reboot the Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village (as it was known originally) and I will be surprised if 1/2 of the supposed plans happen...their last idea, Disney's Hyperion Wharf, completely fizzled out which I'm disappointed with as I think it was a great concept and gave people a place to hang out...of course Disney doesn't want you to hang out, they want you to spend money, so we get this instead

Well, to be honest, I did just skim the article. My impression was that it was going to become another hotel property. Dooh.

Agreed on the hanging out aspect. I did at least like that it was a semi-free place (baring my family's purchases) to hang out and get a Disney-esque experience.

Particularly amusing are the comments of the Disney fans in other news articles. They act like it's the end of the world.
