Default Disneyland Construction Footage

Here's some remarkable time-lapse and real time footage of the original park under construction.

That is amazing! Can't believe they started construction only 7 months before they opened. If I recall, construction for SFOT was on a similar time frame.

I've never been to Disneyland but would love to go sometime. I'm a little scared I'd forever be comparing SFOT to it ever after.

cool video (even though I haven't sat through the whole thing yet)...what I think is cool about videos like this is that there was NOTHING where Disneyland was built...literally just fields of nothing but orange groves and to visit it now it's hard to imagine that it's the same place with the 5, Harbor blvd, and everything else that just sprouted up around it...the same can be said for most other places too I know...I love looking at old pictures of any city and trying to fit in what's current into them

What an amazing find! Thanks for sharing, Capstan! I love the the stationary time-lapse shots of each project coming together over time, although everything went up in a VERY short span. Disneyland was very much like a barn-raising in a way. It was amazing watching multiple crews on Main Street working on nearly every building simulataneously. I wonder how much of the initial cost was for just labor?

I loved the commentary too. Is there more? I couldn't seem to find it. During the video they referenced more footage...wasn't sure if it was released though. All in all a great treat to watch.

i know people who have been at small, private events with Tony Baxter (one of the voices on the video, former VP of Imagineering who started as an ice cream scooper at DL) who have had a chance to see some of his private video collection and say most of it is a Disney fan's (not dry) dream and he has hours of it from his time with the company...now how much, if any, will ever make it out in public domain is unknown (especially since he's still a "consultant")

So Vance, you need to move your status from friend of a friend to just friend and get invited to these parties. Then you can covertly record the films on your phone and smuggle them back to us. This message will self destruct in, oh.... never.

don't I wish...notice I said they have been at events, not that they were friends with him and they were by accident...one was a small reception at a private home for a fundraising thing based around a Disney fan event and he was there (no one knew he was going to be there)...the other got invited to a birthday party for a friend of a friend thing...turned out it was Richard Sherman's birthday party so they saw Tony Baxter video AND saw Mr. Sherman play on his piano

some people get all the breaks
