Default Club 33

This video tells all about the history of Club 33, Disneyland's exclusive private club tucked away in New Orleans Square. Barely noticeable in the park unless you know just where to look, Club 33 is a realm considered to be Disney's exclusive "Holy Land".

The number of witty responses overwhelms me. I think I'll play it safe and let Michael handle this one.

The vulture thing was a secondary use of the hidden mic's. Since it was intended to be a place where Walt could invite VIPs and potential investors, he could talk them up, excuse himself, go listen to what they were saying behind his back, and then go back and tweak his presentation based on what he heard. But as the video said, he passed before the club opened so he never got a chance to try it. (however I think he had probably done something similar before)

Club 33 is def one of the top Disney Holy ground sites, really hope I get to eat there one day (I do have a possible in)

Yeah, Nixon could have learned a thing or two from Walt's hidden microphones. And even I could eat at Club 33 in my wheelchair since it has the classic elevator (assuming I had an "in" to the place).

Besides 33, I'd also like to have a tour of Walt and Lillian's apartment above the fire station on Main Street, as well as the back areas of the Disney Gallery that were a part of it's original design as a future larger apartment for the Disney family. Sadly, Walt passed away before it was ever completed.

Walt died about 2 weeks before I was born. Maybe I could convince the Club 33 staff that I'm reincarnated from Disney and thus deserve a membership.

Sure....ok, the diagram for the Southern Palace's stage lighting has the various spotlights named by their sequence on the lighting board. The "A" Spot, "B" Spot, "C" Spot, etc, and somewhere between the "F" Spot and the "H" Spot is the...um...

Agreed with the Firehouse apartment, I've seen pictures and read articles about it, but would love to see it in person. As part of it "Year of a Million Dreams" promotion they converted the Disney Gallery in New Orleans Square into a guest room using the orginal sketches by Walt and Lillian had made up for that apartment. That promo is over now, but it is still in use as a room for those that win certain contests. It was that same promo that they changed what was going to be Walt's apartment in Cinderella castle at WDW into the Royal Castle Suite, which I hope to see soon since I know I'll never win a chance to stay there.

Quick story, when I was on my 2007 trip and the YoaMD promo was in full swing and I took the Magic Behind Our Steam Train tour. Our guide told us that Mariah Carey was in WDW and that he had been part of the group assigned to escort her around a few days earlier at MK. He said that she threw a huge diva fit when she said she wanted to stay in the castle and they told her no since it was only possible to stay there if you won it that day, no matter how she was willing to pay. Then several us guys volunteered to share it with her if they let us win it that day, but no dice.

You know anyone can get a membership as long as your willing to sit on the waiting list for years (about 14 years last I heard) and pay the $10,000 memebr fee and $3000 a year annual dues. You got that right.

I found this link I bookmarked years ago. Probably the nicest tribute to the club. Very nice photos and memories! If anyone isn't familiar with Club 33, you should take an hour and view this site:

Vance, no luck on getting Mariah to stay in the castle suite with you, huh? Like I'm so sure your wife would go for that!
